Poliomyelitis

Indications: The poliomyelitis vaccine provides immunity against polio.

Vaccination: This vaccine is given by mouth or as injection. This depends on the previous vaccination. Travellers to high-risk areas should also be given the vaccine if not previously immunised.

Protection: Vaccination including oral vaccination gives protection for a lifetime.

Side effects include:

Redness around injection site
Hardening of skin around injection site
Weakness
