Doxycycline

Indications: This medicine is a tetracycline antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It is also used in the treatment of malaria caused by P. falciparum, in combination with chinin. It is used as an anti-malaria drug against malaria caused by P. falsiparum, primary in the border regions between Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar.

Directions for use: 200 mg once the first day then 100 mg daily.

Pregnancy: May not be used.

Cautions: If your symptoms do not improve within a few days or if they become worse, check with your doctor. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE increased sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposure to the sun or sunlamps until you know how you react to this medicine. Use sunscreen or protective clothing if you must be outside for a prolonged period.

Side effects: include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience vaginal irritation or discharge, headache and/or blurred vision, stomach pain, or a severe skin reaction to the sun.
