Jetlag
Jet lag refers to disruption of your "body clock" and leads often to a condition of general malaise and reduced physical and mental performance if your travel covers more than three timezones in a short period of time.
General you will feel the problems harder flying west-east and it seems that it takes some more time for women to reset their body clock to the new time zone.
To help avoid jet lag:
Be well rested before departure and have as much rest as possible during the flight, including short naps. Drink plenty of fluids such as water during your airline flight. Exercise will also help, so walking the cabin aisle occasionally will also help to lessen the effects of jet lag. Know the exact times to seek and avoid bright light. Exposure to light at the wrong time can actually make Jetlag worse A short-acting sleeping medication may be useful in treating sleeping problems in cases associated with jet lag. But be careful about intake of alcohol. Use the hormone Melatonin , at present available in very few countries (sold, but not approved by FDA in US). Melatonine is used by some traveller's to resynchronise the body's internal clock although its benefit is unproven and side-effects unknown. Travellers who take medication according to a strict timetable (e.g. insulin, oral contraceptives) should seek medical advice.
